The Move

  • C
The Move by Laura Stevenson and the Cans

Capo 9th fret
Intro:
    C Am

   FM7 FM7 G x2

   C Csus2

verse 1:
      F G C C7+
These two back teeth are ground meat I barely slept this week, but
      F G E F
You're lovely in the morning all reminding me why I should be sorry
     F G C C7+
Say, "I love your brain but I hate it when it pushes me away."
     F G E F
Well it's been down so now you're finally finding out that I’m
 F G C C7+
Not supposed to get better. But I said I won't be quite like this
 F G
Forever 'cause I'm a liar and a thief

Repeat Intro (slow down during C to Csus2 part)

Bridge:
   Em Csus2
Well there's an easy way to wind your watch
   A# Am
Come here and take it off, I'll keep it...
 F C
Safely in the back where I can clean it, I mean it
        F Am
There is no time like the present
    F G
or something just as stupid.

verse 2:
            F G C C7+
I'll tell ya I could make you happy. I could make you coffee
    F G E F
when I wake up if you haven't made some already.
           F G C C7+ Am
There's a ticking but it's subtle and you'd barely even notice
           F G
But you'll know it when your eyes they start to focus.

          F G C C7+
Until then, I'm around in a hot room by myself
     F G E F
Organizing all the ways that I could take all of the things you love away
F G C C7+
So I put it on you 'cause it's easier to do
               F G E F
I'll watch you smoke until you know me, 'til you're dizzy and you're lonely
            F G
Make the move, I am leaving it up to you.

    C C7+ Am

   Fm7 G x2

End on C
This is a great song and its fun to play on guitar The strumming rhythm should be pretty easy to get down A couple notes on the song: -The C7+ chord during the verses isnt very pronounced, you could skip it but I think it sounds nice. -Laura Stevenson throws in the same hammer-ons that appear in the intro (during the C, Am and G chord) throughout the rest of the song. I hope this is helpful
