Improving your Finger Dexterity

In this lesson, you'll learn how to improve your finger dexterity. You will need to follow this lesson at least once a day in order to be satisfied with your dexterity. For those of you that don't know what dexterity is, it's is hand or body skill, for this lesson it's speed on a guitar. Iv divided this lesson from beginners to average classes.

One of the biggest frustrations for a beginning guitarist is not being able to get your hands working together. Know the feeling?
You try to pick up the speed on a riff or lick that just sounds so much better at 120 BPM but your fingers only allow half that.

As soon as you bump the speed up it’s as if your left hand just conks out and can’t keep up or often remember where it’s supposed to be next.

This is a problem solved with practice. However, if you’re tired of struggling with this problem- like so many people are- there are guitar finger exercises that boost this process.

Beginners

For those of you that just started playing the guitar, you want to be like slash or jimmy page, or maybe even brain may in just a few weeks. Well that can't really happen because you fingers can't get used to that, that quickly. But to get ready for when you become an average player you will need to practice a few small things in order to be good. Practicing blues is the easiest for beginners. Blues offers a wide arrange of styles from easy to expert. I have picked out three blues tabs that you should practice for about 1 week. Over time you will notice you can play it faster. That is because of finger dexterity. Here are three blues scales. In Order: E minor Blues scale, Blues pentatonic in A, and a random one

Average Players

If you are an average player. The first lesson might be very easy for you. But if you are still slow you must keep practicing the pentatonic scales. The pentatonic scales are scales that go up and down the frets starting for the 1st string to 2nd or the other way around. When I was a little Noob guitarist I would just start from the first string to the last going 1, 2, 3 on each fret. It honestly increased my dexterity and I found everything easy. Here are some somewhat difficult pentatonic scales. I'm not saying they are hard. I'm really just saying they might take a few runs to complete. Note All Are Separate!

Below you can watch a good excercise for stretching your fingers without a guitar:

Hope you learned something. And I hope your finger speed increases over the time of this lesson.
