That Day

THAT DAY: GOLDEN EARRING(S) - 1966 (G. Kooymans/M. Gerritsen) 4/4 - 130

The Golden Earrings (Netherlands), still with a 'S' in these days,
were then more a pop group, rather than the rock group they became a few
years later.
That Day, was their 2nd single record release, and was recorded 'all the
way' in the U.K.
It peaked on nr. 2 in the Dutch Top-40, and charted for 15 weeks.
They are the Dutch most succesful recording artists until the present,
August 2011, and charted between 1965 - 2005 with 47 single records
in the Top-40, 5 of them were nr. 1's, another 3 made it into the Top-100,
and another 13 never made it into the charts.

INTRO: |Am Abm |Gm E |: 2x

VERSE 1:

C Dm Dsus4-Dm|
She left me be-hind,
C |Dm Dsus4-Dm
  but in my mind,
 |Am |E
I hear the words she said to me,
 |F |E7 |Am |% |
I wonder why it had to be one day.

VERSE 2:

C |Dm Dsus4-Dm|
  She said she loved me,
C |Dm Dsus4-Dm
and that was easy to see.
   |Am |E
But why did she run away,
 |F |E7 |Am |% |
I pray that she'll, come back and stay one day.

BRIDGE:

C |D Dsus2-D|
  I was walking slowly,
F |C |
  met her on my way.
% |D Dsus2-D|
  It seemed she was lonely,
F |G7 |
well I have no words to say.

CHORUS:

F |Am |
  Where has she gone,
F |Am |
  where has she gone.
F |C |
  No heart has ever been,
E7 |Am |E7 |
hurt like this that day.

and that was easy to see.
   |Am |E
