And the (G) snowflakes fell like ancient tears

(Am) Something in my heart remembered  
(F) Long forgotten sins   
As they (G) echo through those empty rooms  
And (Am) scatter in the wind  
There's a branch that's barely hangin  
From a (F) dying chestnut tree  
And it (G) sways before the window where  
Your (Am) bedroom used to be  
 
And I (C) drove the old man's Plymouth  
Through the (F) tired Midwestern snow

And I (C) walked down toward the graveyard  
As the (F) wind began to blow  
and I (G) stumbled across the headstone  
Nearly (F) buried (G) in the (Am) snow  
And your (C) face filled up my memory  
And a (F) phantom filled my soul  
Like the (G) cracks that filled the sidewalk down
