Whiskey For Everybody

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whiskey For Everybody - Gary Jules
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Transcribed May 2009 by Jonathan Field - [email protected]

The recorded version has two fingerpicked guitars playing at once. I didn't
try to figure that out, but instead tried to make a nice single-guitar
version with the proper chord voicings and a similar playing style.

Standard tuning, capo on 3rd fret

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Intro/Verse - play the verse pattern once as an intro:

    G Em Am7 Dsus2
"From the air the fields east of Dublin look just like a watercolor"

    G Em Am7 Dsus2
"When the streets arise up to meet the plane nobody notices"

      G Em Am7 Dsus2
    |-------3---|-------0---|-------3---|---------0-------|
    |-----3---3-|-----0---0-|---------1-|-------3---3-----|
    |---4-------|---0-------|-----0-----|-----0-------0---|
    |-5---------|-2---------|---2-------|---4-----------4-|
    |-----------|-----------|-0---------|-5---------------|
    |-----------|-----------|-----------|-----------------|

Chorus Part 1 - link the end of the C pattern into the Am7:

          Am7 Dsus2 G C
"That I miss your face more than anything in the world"

         Am7 Dsus2 G C
"And I miss your face more than anything in the world"

      Am7 Dsus2 G C
    |-------3---|---------0-------|-------3---|---------0-------|
    |---------1-|-------3---3-----|-----3---3-|-------1-----3---|
    |-----0-----|-----0-------0---|---4-------|-----0-----0---0-|
    |---2-------|---4-----------4-|-5---------|---2-------------|
    |-0---------|-5---------------|-----------|-3---------------|
    |-----------|-----------------|-----------|-----------------|

Here's an alternative to the above C pattern, that I like:

      C
    |-----------------|
    |-------1---------|
    |-----0-----------|
    |---2-------2---0-|
    |-3-------3---2---|
    |-----------------|

Chorus Part 2:

    Am7 Dsus2 Am7 Dsus2 G F G
"Whiskey for everybody, to us and to all we left behind"

      Am7 Dsus2 Am7 Dsus2
    |-------3---|---------0-------|-------3---|---------0-------|
    |---------1-|-------3---3-----|---------1-|-------3---3-----|
    |-----0-----|-----0-------0---|-----0-----|-----0-------0---|
    |---2-------|---4-----------4-|---2-------|---4-----------4-|
    |-0---------|-5---------------|-0---------|-5---------------|
    |-----------|-----------------|-----------|-----------------|

      G F G
    |-------3-----|-------1-----|-------3-------|
    |-----3---3---|-----1---1---|-----3---3-----|
    |---4-------4-|---2-------2-|---4-------4---|
    |-5-----------|-3-----------|-5-----------5-|
    |-------------|-------------|---------------|
    |-------------|-------------|---------------|

Verse:

    G Em Am7 Dsus2
"A beautiful morning you’ve got someplace to be"

    G Em Am7 Dsus2
"So if you have to go be sure and think of me"

Chorus Part 1:

           Am7 Dsus2 G C
"Cause I miss your face more than anything in the world"

    Am7 Dsus2 G C
"And I miss your face more than anything in the world"

Chorus Part 2 - this time around it goes into the bridge section:

    Am7 Dsus2 Am7 Dsus2
"Whiskey for everybody whisper the words before you're"

Bridge:

     G D6 Em
    "Out the door again"

      G D6 Em
    |-------3-|---2-----|-------0-|
    |-----3---|-----0---|-----0---|
    |---4-----|-------2-|---0-----|
    |-5-------|-4-------|-2-------|
    |---------|---------|---------|
    |---------|---------|---------|

     A7 D G C
"I believe that you were right"

      A7 D G C
    |---------|-2-------|-3-------|---------3-|
    |-2-------|---3---3-|---3---3-|-------1---|
    |---0---0-|-----2---|-----0---|-----0-----|
    |-----2---|-0-------|---------|---2-------|
    |-0-------|---------|-2-------|-3---------|
    |---------|---------|---------|-----------|

                  D G C
"The seas are full and stars are falling"

         D G C
"I believe that you were right"

                    G F G
"We, we were so young when we left home"

      G F G
    |-------3-----|-------1-----|-------3-----------3---5p3---|
    |-----3---3---|-----1---1---|-----3---3-------3---3-----3-|
    |---4-------4-|---2-------2-|---4-------4---4-------------|
    |-5-----------|-3-----------|-5-----------5---------------|
    |-------------|-------------|-----------------------------|
    |-------------|-------------|-----------------------------|

Verse:

    G Em Am7 Dsus2
"From the fields the air over Dublin looks just like a watercolor"

    G Em Am7 Dsus2
"And even in empty arms I feel the weight of you"

Chorus:

        Am7 Dsus2 G C
"Oh I miss your face more than anything in the world"

    Am7 Dsus2 G C
"I miss your face more than anything"

    Am7 Dsus2 Am7 Dsus2 G F
"Whiskey for everybody, to us and to all we left behind"

          G F
    "when we"

          G
    "left home"

The last G is not arpeggio, but a single gentle pluck:

      G
    |---|
    |---|
    |-4-|
    |-5-|
    |---|
    |---|

------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's it. There are many slight fingerpicking variations you can try
to fill it out a bit. Experiment, make it your own, and have fun with
 this beautiful song.
