Do Not Be Afraid

DO NOT BE AFRAID

           G D
Do not be afraid, I am with you,
                         Am C
I’ve called you by your name, You are mine,
D G D
Do not be afraid, I’ve redeemed you,
                   Am C D
I call you by your name, you are mine all mine.

C G/B
Should you pass through the water deep
Am F Em
Should you go through the river wide
C G/B
Should you walk through the fire
                   F
The flame will not burn

Do not be afraid, I am with you,
I’ve called you by your name, You are mine,
Do not be afraid, I’ve redeemed you,
I call you by your name, you are mine all mine.

Even though you are lost and blind
I will turn all your darkness to light
I will lead you by paths that you do not know

Do not be afraid, I am with you,
I’ve called you by your name, You are mine,
Do not be afraid, I’ve redeemed you,
I call you by your name, you are mine all mine.

G
Look,
             D
I’m doing a new thing,
       Am
Now it emerges,
               C
Can you not see it;
Look,
A road in the desert
And rivers in wasteland
Hope for the hungry

I have given up nations for you,
You are honoured and I love you,
I have gathered you in from the East and the West

Check it out: Isaiah 43:1-28
The Bible tells us a whole heap of times not to be afraid… why is that? Because we spend much of
our lives anxious, on edge, and sometimes simply afraid. We fear the future, fear about finances,
fear we won’t fit in and fear we might be rejected by others. So much to be afraid about, and yet,
Jesus keeps telling us not to fear. John tells us the perfect love of God will drive out all fear.
In other words fear and love can’t live together. If ever you need to be free of fear or anxiety…….
Just ask for more love! And in this chapter of Isaiah, God tells us why we don’t have to afraid any more!
